Newsletter
Spring 2011
Spring GreetingsWelcome to this long overdue newsletter. I have had several attemps however here we are with a new format that I hope will deliver you meaningful messages from me along with an easy to read format so you can see clearly coming events and relevant news. I hope you have had time over the winter months to slow down and nourish yourself and to nurture any seeds of creativity that have been waiting for spring to emerge. Perhaps thinking of how you can honour yourself a little more as you spend time doing the things that really make your heart sing. Consider these couple of questions and give yourself some time to answer so that you can really come from a place of truth. Grab yourself a cuppa, a notepad and pen and reflect on what brings you great joy. If time and money were not an issue what would you be doing right now? Write it down like a plan for the future. You see, everyday we are given a new opportunity to make a difference in this world. To make a change in our own lives if we so choose or to make a difference in the life of another. What did you do today that made a positive difference in someone’s life? It could be as simple as a smile to a stranger you passed in the street or a compliment given to a work mate. It doesn’t take much and it need not cost anything to make a difference. Perhaps a phone call you’ve been meaning to make but not had the time. It’s often the simple things in life that are most meaningful. We also get the best answers from looking within and not outside ourselves. Take some time today to look within, take a few deep breaths to settle yourself then put your hands on your heart and ask yourself what brings you joy. Then find some things you are grateful for and spend a moment giving thanks. It’s great to share what you are grateful for with others, try it and see what happens. When you get together with family and friends support each others strengths and focus on what is great. Sometimes we need to vent and de brief with someone but make sure once you’re done you let it go and then focus on what went right and how you will move forward. So moving forward let’s look at what is coming up. There are classes and events in Victoria and Margaret River retreats in WA, two this year plus another big Dru Australia event in both Perth and Bunbury in May 2012. Dru Yoga Teacher Training is in the diary for Perth commencing in April 2013 so that is very exciting! You will hear a lot more about all of those longer term events as they get closer. Meanwhile scroll down to see what is on next term. Enjoy this beautiful season of spring and try and ignore the Chrismas commercialism appearing in the shops already!! Namaste Sarah

StemtechI’d like to share with you a product that is making a big difference to a lot of peoples health and wellbeing. It is very new to Australia and is being launched in Sydney this year in November. News about Stem Cell Nutrition is now appearing in popular health magazines so you may have already heard about this. This product supports our inner health and is called StemEnhance. It is the only nutritional supplement proven to support the natural release of adult stem cells from the bone marrow. Our bodies naturally produce adult stem cells however as we age the production slows and hense the increase in time for the body to heal itself. Results of scientific studies indicate that increasing the number of circulating adult stem cells is a key factor in maintaining optimal health. This is a product for longevity and after taking this product for the past twelve months I can definitely report increases in many areas of my health and wellbeing. If you would like to read more and see how this product could help you please click on this linkhttp://highaspirations.stemtechbiz.com.au or copy and paste it into your browser and explore the page it takes you to. I am happy to pass on any further information if you require it however the web page is really good and you can find out all about this product and more. Alternatively visit my website and find out more on the nutrition page. |
Life CoachingImagine a relationship where the total focus is on you. On what you want in life and what will help you achieve it. This is what life coaching can do for you. It is not about someone coming in and tellling you what you need to do, no, it is about listening and working with you to uncover what is really important in your life. Assisting you to regain some balance and prioritise what is important and where you want to make changes. Over the past few years I have developed some great tools that I use in coaching that take a very holistic view of all areas of one’s life. These have been enhanced by my attendance at a recent ontological coaching workshop where you are taught to coach to a person’s way of being. It is a fabulous approach that honours you as being the expert in your life, which of course you are. You have the answers within you however we can get so busy and caught up in the day to day rush that time begins to pass us by and we forget we are the creators of our lives. Instead of steering the ship we realise we have become a rudderless ship at sea, directionless and not flowing in the slipstream of life! If you feel ready to move forward and transform your life then give me a call 0409 955 575 or send me an email sarah@highaspirations.com.au and we can discuss a coaching package to suit your needs. |

April 2011

Greetings and welcome to Autumn
As I walked this morning it was perfect autumn weather, clear blue sky, no wind, just a stillness that allowed for a reflective walk in the park whilst observing the wildlife and changing colours of the trees. Nature is so amazing if we can take the time to connect with it. Consequently it was a slow walk with not so much emphasis on aerobic fitness!!
This leads me to share with you some aspects of the energy of Autumn. Autumn is a time to reflect and contemplate on what has been worthwhile and meaningful and to release and resolve that which no longer serves you well. As you see in the beautiful deciduous trees as they let go of the leaves to make way for rejuvenation and renewal, the old leaves being gracefully released back into the earth where they nourish the future growth. Life is the sum of all our choices and there is no right or wrong, there just is. If you can let go of that which hasn’t served you without holiding onto regret then you can open and make space for the new to germinate and blossom when the time is right.
You might like to consider the following to include in your autumn yoga practice:
The Rotated Triangle – this contains both forward and bending movements along with spinal twisting. Forward bends allow you to yield more easily, surrendering and letting go of whatever you no longer need. The twisting movement allows you to view a situation from many different perspectives, revealing new insights and allowing you to learn from the past and leave it behind.
The Earth Sequence is a lovely practice as it gently works all the major muscles of the body and uses the breath to synchronise movement and flow. It also works on strengthening the legs and associated kidney energy helping to boost the immune system for the winter. Focus on really feeling grounded through your feet and legs into the earth below, connect with the stillness within the Earth before you begin this sequence.
What makes Dru different?
I am often asked what makes Dru different so I would like to begin to share with you one aspect that makes it different from other forms of yoga and I will add to this each month.
In a Dru Yoga class you will begin with what we call an activation session where you will be guided through some warm up movements to some lively music. These serves the purpose of:
- systematically activates and oxygenates the whole body
- warms and loosens the whole body
- improves the circulation in each part of the body
- reduces tension and tiredness
- gives a quick energy boost
Some activations may include body preps for some asana work to follow and this all assists in preparing the body whilst minimising injury and strain.
Dru Australia event in Bunbury – update
Not long now till this amazing two day event will be upon us. Bookings are going well and if you are still thinking about whether to come along or not please decide and let me know by phone 0409 955 575 and I will book you in and can take credit card payments over the phone or you can pay me on the morning of the event. Please do let me know as we need to know numbers for catering and logistics of running the event smoothly.
There has been a change in who is coming to run this event as Andrew is unfortunately not able to make it due to sudden unforseen circumstances however, we are blessed to have Trish Brown, senior international teacher and director of Dru Teacher Training in Australia. Trish will be accompanied by Mouli Mackenzie, a very experienced teacher who travels extensively teaching Dru Yoga teachers and running events.
This event is running Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st and if you would like a flyer emailed to you please let me know or give me a call for more details. I will be arriving in Perth Thursday April 28th so if I don’t answer the phone please leave me a message as I may be in transit.
We are very fortunate to have this event being offered in Bunbury and I encourage you to make full use of this opportunity to learn some new skills in how to manage your energy levels, handle stress and get loads of tips and techniques that will bring health and vitality into your life plus have fun! I can’t wait to see you all there and be back in the West! Remember also that some Dru stock has been sent over so there will be books, cd’s and dvd’s available for sale.
Dru Yoga and Meditation Classes
Thank you to all those of you in Victoria that have been asking for yoga and meditation classes. I am intending to start classes as soon as I return from my WA trip. Classes will start in early to mid May as soon as I can secure a suitable venue. Stay tuned as I am checking out another venue next week in Wonga Park and I am also hoping to get the Michael Centre in Warranwood for a night class.
Boost up for winter now
Since being in Melbourne I have become involved with an amazing product that is revolutionary in preventative health, an area that I am passionate about. The product is StemEnhance, it is a product created by nature and backed up by science and you can read more about it on my website on the nutrition page, check it out and follow the link that will take you to the company website which offers much more. www.highaspirations.com.au
Last month I also attended two events in Melbourne run by David Wolfe, superfood genius! This man is amazing and if you get the chance to see him you really must take it. He has spent his life researching natural foods as medicine and has the most amazing program for rejuvenation. One very important point he made that I would like to pass on is that we all will benefit immensly by taking a good probiotic as an everyday supplement. The best probiotic I have found is made by Miessence and is called In-Liven, it is packed with other essential super foods and provides a great immune booster. Remember that good health is so much more than the absense of disease and illness. It is not OK to accept that we all gets colds and flu every year. Vibrant health is your birthright and it is within everyones reach, we are what we think and we can change our thinking anytime we like. Start with simple changes that you can sustain and make a way of life.
Bliss Balls – check this recipe out
I have been playing with the Chocolate Nut Ball recipe and offer you the new version of this yummy healthy snack, great alternative to chocolate easter eggs!
Ingredients:
1 cup nuts (almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts), 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup pitted fresh dates, 1/2 cup coconut, 1 tablespoon nut butter, 4 teaspoons cacao powder (organic pure raw chocolate powder), 2 teaspoons spirulina plus extra coconut for rolling in.
Method:
Process nuts in food processor or Thermomix
Add remaining ingredients, binding with approximately 1 tablespoon water until mixture becomes lumpy.
Roll into small balls and roll in extra coconut – store in fridge
Enjoy these and play around with your own additions, these are great for taking along on outings, walks etc.
That’s all from me for this month. I wish you a very vibrant and happy Easter break, enjoy nature and walk barefoot on the earth, it is so good for you! More on that next month.
Namaste
Sarah

Special Edition Bunbury WA Event

From Stress to SUCCESS
Dru Yoga event coming to Bunbury
Sat 30th April & Sun 1st May 2011 Koombana Bay Sailing Club, Anchorage Cove, Koombana Drive, Bunbury
This is a reminder to anyone wanting to book into this event and also more details on the mentoring being offered by Andrew Wells, Director of Dru in Australia.
Director of Dru Yoga and Meditation in Australia, Andrew has taught this modality in more than 30 countries on 6 continents. He’s been teaching this for nearly 20 years, and has pioneered the application of Dru in the conflict zones of Europe and Africa to help people overcome emotional trauma.
Author, video and audio presenter, he is the director of the Australian Dru Yoga and Dru Meditation teacher training courses.
Andrew Wells mentoring opportunities
Andrew has helped thousands of people discover their hidden strengths and overcome their inner challenges through his innovative approaches to mentoring. As Director of Dru Yoga and Meditation in Australia, he has a particular expertise in tailoring the ancient wisdom of yoga for modern society.
He has innovated the use of yoga for overcoming emotional trauma in war zones, created highly effective approaches to stress management and used yoga’s deep understanding of the mind to create a remarkable map of the persona using the chakras, or power centres of the unconscious.
In Andrew’s visit to Western Australia this May, he will be offering three types of mentoring.
Power Centres Mentoring
Andrew takes you through an easy attunement that rapidly puts you in touch with the power centres of your unconscious mind. Andrew will help you discover how much you already know about yourself and how you can optimise your life… and then help you make exhilarating discoveries about your hidden points of potential and new ways to heal old challenges.
Yoga is perhaps the world’s most enduring personal development discipline, and it provides a near-complete map of our vast inner potential. Andrew will use this map to help you get in touch with the parts of your mind (chakras) that govern the crucial aspects of how you get on in your world – abundance, relating, manifesting, knowing the right thing to do at the right time, life goals – and then show you how to optimise each one in turn.
Get ready to get back into the driver’s seat of your life!
Heroes Mentoring
Discover your Heroes or ‘Sheroes’
Each of us experience parts of our persona that obstruct our happiness and success in relationships, work or life in general.
Yet few of us are aware of the power we have available to us as a result of the many strengths in our persona.
In this mentoring, Andrew shows you how every force in your persona is like a Hero, or a ‘Shero’. He’ll help you discover these, and you’ll be amazed at the vast reservoir of positives you have in your life. Then we’ll look at the Heroes or Sheroes that are getting in your way, and learn how to redirect their power towards your pool of positives. This eventually becomes like magnetic attraction, systematically turning the unhelpful parts of your persona into your greatest friends and allies.
Transform your stress
In this mentoring, Andrew will show you how to use any point of stress in your life as a power source for transformation. With ease!
Each of us have enormous potential within, but so often limit or deny this potential, via unhelpful patterns of reactivity or limitation. Andrew will show you how to use points of stress in your life as a treasure map to success, giving you techniques that change your inner state with ease, little by little. Over a period of months you can make profound changes to nearly any situation in your life that causes you stress.

Other Retreat Ideas
Lots of planning going on to bring you quality Dru Yoga retreats around this beautiful country of ours. I would love to run a retreat in the Kimberley region or maybe Broome so if anyone has any ideas of venues let me know and let’s see what we can come up with.
Dru Yoga & Meditation Classes
These will commence in the New Year in and around Croydon, Victoria as that is where I am now based. I will be running six to eight week blocks of classes in both yoga and separate meditation classes. If you know someone is this area that might like to know more please pass on my details to them.
Private Coaching and Tuition
I am available for private coaching and individual yoga and meditation tuition. Obviously for yoga or meditation you would need to be living close by or if you would like a private session whilst I am back in WA just let me know soon so we can schedule one in. The advantage of one on one support is that you can ensure you are doing the techniques correctly and have a program tailored to suit your individual needs.
As far as coaching goes this can be done from anywhere and doesn’t need to be in person as the phone works well as does Skype. Coaching can help you move forward with purpose and assist you to step out of your comfort zone so you can make some life changes that really make a difference. Remember, if you always do what you’ve always done you will continue to get what you’ve always got! If nothing changes, nothing changes! I get coached and I can confirm it is invaluable for moving forward and staying on track, pushing yourself further when otherwise you migth sit still and let life pass you by.
Nutrition – Green Super Food
I have just attended two events in Melbourne where David Wolfe spoke and shared his immense knowledge on super foods, raw foods and how to mega boost your immune system to protect against the top diseases that are affecting astounding numbers of people in this country. The Saturday full day workshop was amazing with lots of information passed on about how to rebalance our hormones, a major contributing factor to preventing major disease in men and women. David is currently on retreat in Dunsborough and will be talking again at an evening event on Saturday March 5th so if you are free Saturday night and there are places left I would highly recommend you get there, his infomration could literally save your life. Just google David Wolf or Sumudra in Dunsborough for more details.
I have recently become involved in distributing a product called Stem Enhance, a naturally occuring blue/green algae which stimulates the migration of stem cells from the bone marrow into the blood stream. It is the world’s first and only patented, scientifically proven stem cell nutrition product. Increasing the number of circulating adult stem cells is probably the single most important thing you can do to maintain optimal health and strengthen the body’s repair mechanism.
Check it out on my website on the Nutrition Page where you can access more information. Next month I will share some of the information I got from the workshop and also tell you about another invaluable product for boosting and maintaining healthy immune systems.
Joy Peace and Love
That’s all from me for now. I would like to thank all the lovely participants of my yoga classes over the past two years in and around Bunbury for your support and dedication! Without your support I wouldn’t be where I am now! I look forward to catching up on my return in April/May.
Check out my new website, still undergoing some changes but almost there! A news section is up and running and I plan on posting weekly news, quotes etc on there. Also I will post the baby news of the two yoga babies born in October in Bunbury for you to read! Piari from the Dardanup/Gerlorup class and Angela from the Bunbury class have beautiful baby girls! Also I have just started a Facebook page for High Aspirations so please click on the link from my website to access and sign up for that.
I wish you all a vibrant happy and safe month of March and challenge you to stay present and in the “now”! Enjoy every moment and take pleasure in the simple things, especially family, friends and community. Make a difference in someone’s life and let that light shine out for the world to see! If you’re having trouble making time for some daily meditation then do it for all those that have been affected by flooding, fire or cyclone in recent weeks, send them love and light.
