How are you enjoying winter?  Is it a time of year that you take the opportunity to slow down in and rest a little more, reflect a little more?

Or do you complain about the rain, the wind, the cold, the shorter days and longer nights?

We’ve actually had the shortest day of the year and so can now begin to observe the days getting longer and lighter.  It doesn’t really matter what we think about winter because it will come and go anyway and before we know it spring will be here then summer and so the cycles roll on.

I like to wonder about all sorts of things and I wonder what it would be like to find the gift in each season.  To welcome each season as an opportunity to embrace the qualities of that time of year.

If we took the time in winter to enjoy warming, slow cooked food, to slow down ourselves and reflect whilst enjoying longer evenings sharing our thoughts and winter food with those close to us, what would that feel like?  Enjoying the indoors and connections with other people as we reflect on what has nourished us so far in the year and what we might need to plan to ensure we complete the year feeling fulfilled and satisfied.

I’ve recently returned from Sydney where I attended the Happiness Conference.  The theme of the conference was “What makes a good life” and we heard from many amazing people from around the world.  I’d like to share with you words from Huge Mackay who asked the question “What makes a life worth living?”.

  • Life lived to a sense of purpose
  • A life lived not for “self” but for others
  • Connections and quality of relations with others
  • Give up perfection
  • Give up the quest of “who am I?” and start asking “who are we” as a collective
  • Serve and nurture
  • Treat others well – kindness

Enjoy the rest of winter and consider reflecting on what makes life worth living for you and let that structure the rest of your amazing year.

Term three yoga classes

There are many classes running this term however most are full which is great but not so good if you want to get into one!

Before work yoga

7am to 8am Tuesday and Thursday mornings

commencing Tuesday July 22nd and running for 10 weeks

term fee $160.00

Men’s Yoga class

Thursday nights 6.45pm to 7.45pm

commencing Thursday July 24th – 10 week term

term fee $160

Friday morning class

Fridays 10am to 11.30am

commencing Friday 25th July – 10 week term

term fee $180

Dru Meditation Course

Eight week course starting Wednesday July 30th

7pm to 8.30pm Wednesday nights

$220.00 for course

learn how to deeply relax, align the body for sitting in the best position for meditation, a variety of meditation techniques, weekly email support for the course duration.

Winter Wonderland Retreat

You asked for it, well here it is – your winter retreat!

Join me at Glenbrook, Margaret River, for a weekend of nourishment and nurture, introspection and reflection.

Winter is a time to take stock of where you are now and plan for where you would like to be. That is what we will be doing using:

  • yoga
  • meditation
  • life balance and visioning processes
commencing Friday August 29th through to Sunday 31st

fully catered for and open to anyone as no previous yoga experience is necessary.
